When hand cane chair holes are resized fo the next size chair cane
it is critical that it is done absolutely correct because once you remove
to much wood from the hand caned
chair you cannot put it back!!! You
have also compromised the structural integrity of the hand cane chair
you are doing for a client!
Drill a set of practice holes in a scrap piece of
wood beginning with the
original size hand cane hole you want to in large! Then begin in larging
with the next size drill bit, & so on until seven (7) short pieces of hand cane
will fit in the resized hole
you have drilled! This will give you a visual be-
fore you actually drill, & resize the holes in the
hand caned chair!
*NOTE: Frank DBA Frank's Cane & Rush Supply uses a
similar
system simply because it absolutely does a superior
machine cane soaking job period!

* MAKING FIBRE RUSH KNOTS DISAPPEAR
* When weaving some types of "Rush" Bottom Chairs'/Backs', &
in this application it's the "Rush"
Backs' you need to literally "Make
the fibre "Rush" "KNOTS'" disappear so here
are a few suggestions
to help the "Rush" weaver achieve "Making the fibre "Rush" dis-
appear!
* It is very easily done by over lapping the "Fibre Rush"
by
about three (3) inches', & then flatten, & splice them together using
one of the following
four (4) methods'!
* 1. A very fine wire!!!
* 2. A fishing line which is transparent!!!
* 3. A
heavy thread which is "Color" compatible to your "Fibre
Rush'!
* 4. Gluing, &
letting throughly dry before continuing to weave
your "Rush" back!!! When gluing it is recommended to also
tie off your splices'!!! Remember you are going to be
pulling these "Splices" extremely tight!
* It is recommended to flatten all splices' matching as closely as
possible the "Rush" size you
are splicing!
* It is recommended using a "Square Knot" for all splices'!
* If you choose to use "The Fishing Line" Method to splice
your "Rush" to make the fibre "Rush" knots disappear it is high-
ly recommended to wear leather
gloves!
* Happy Splicing to make the "Fibre Rush" "KNOTS"
disappear
in a "Rush" back!
