* A HAPPY "SABBATH DAY" HOPEFULLY!!!
* ON SAT UR DAY MARCH 26, (CLOUDY; BUT
THE SON SHINE
IS AROUND MY SHOULDER) 2011 @ 8:41 AM EST.!!!

No "Post" today until after "Sunset"!!!
* By
ten (10) o'clock this mornng I had gotten dressed, ate
my Breakfast of Oatmeal Fuel, took my Meds, & by ten
(10) thirty
(30) I was out the door, & on my way; but it just wasn't early
enough!!! Took
the wrong exit on the interstate because I am not
familiar with the Petersburg, Virginia area, & that did
in my morning
plans for the day!!!
* Next week I will do every single thing
I need to do on Friday so
my Saturday morning plans come to fruition, & will continue to come
to fruition week after week!!!
* Today I received an E-Mail from a "Chair Caner" whom
was in-
terested in learning the "CHAIR CANING LOCK STEP METHOD"
TM so I have answered
that E-Mail query, & will help them learn
the absolute best way to "Hand Cane" a
Chair!!!
* This is not just my opinion: but also the opinion of one of the
instructors' at the John C Campbell Folk School whom will not teach
their students the "Traditional
7 Step Method of Chair Caning"!!!
* In fact I have just had a "Student"
whom I taught the
"CHAIR CANING LOCK STEP METHOD" TM!!! And she will certainly
be a terrific addition to the "Chair Caning, & Seat Weaving
Community!!!

* BOTTOM OF THE WEEK, & STILL NO RUSH MATERIAL!!!
* ON FRY DAY MARCH 25, (SON SHINE, CLOUDS, ?)

8:39 AM EST. ( I'M UP EARLY TODAY)
* There's nothing like
having your "Chair Caning, & Seat Weaving
Business" shut completely 110% down by a "VENDOR",
& believe me
it doesn't leave a very good taste in your mouth, & yet the
"VENDOR"
doesn't appreciate it or like it when you "Post" a short
paragraph about it on your "BLOG"!!!
WELL, I don't need an extra
$500.00 in my pocket this week, & I'm postive this "VENDOR"
wouldn't like an extra $500.00 in his pocket this week either "HA"
"HA"!!!
* I've already had my Oatmewal Fuel Breakfast for today due
to
rising earlier than usual, & at 8:47 AM EST. it's to early to take
the Meds so I can't really get my day started
until the Meds have
been taken!!!
* So today where "Chair
Caning, & Seat Weaving" is concerned
I will finish fitting a "Chair Bottom Support" matching
the hand made
reproduction "Lincoln Rocker" which the customer requested, & then
we will call it a "Chair Caning, & Seat Weaving" work day, & simply
kick back, & have
a day of "Unscheduled" R & R!!! Of course I really
don't need that either with the
end of the month bills' coming!!!
* Today I re read the next to last
paragraph on Esther's Blog
under the "Post" "After The Rain" because it spoke
about doing
something in the "River of Life" which I had never thought about,
much
less thought about doing in the "River of Life"!!! The paragraph
was really Magical!!!

* TEACHING DAY!!!
* ON THURS DAY MARCH 24, (WITH LOTS OF SON SHINE
ON
MY SHOULDER, & IN MY HEART) 2011 @ 10:33 AM EST.
* I'm really late for everything this morning at 10:34; but the
Meds have been taken, Oatmeal Fuel ate, &
I'm partially dressed as
I do this brief "Post"!!!
* So the
day will begin by my going to the nearest Big Box Hard
ware, & purchase some "Course Sand Paper"
to remove the stubborn
remains of a "Spline" for a "Machine Cane" Chair which was put in
with "Yellow Glue", & I don't know who to "Thank" for all of the
extra work
removing this "Spline"!!! But using "Yellow Glue" is a real
"NO NO"
when installing a "Spline" in a "Machine Cane" Chair!!! It's
plain ole "White
Glue" that you use "Chair Caners'"!!!
* I've really enjoyed
teaching my "Student" to learn my "Chair
Caning, & Seat Weaving Crafts"
which have helped me to see how
rusty my Chair Caning, & Seat Weaving "Teaching Skills"
really are!!!
So I'm going to focus on being more focused when I teach, & not
wander off
of the subject so much which I'm sure is very distract-
ing; but it really is different than teaching in a classroom
setting,
& I really think that that is the difference!!! In spite of this I
really "Think" teaching
on "Thursday" is not only fun; but it really
does break the week up for a real change of pace!!!

* TRAVELING CHAIR CANER, & SEATWEAVER!!!
* ON WINDS DAY MARCH 23, (& THE SLEEPLESSNESS
CONTINUES) 2011 @ 1:24 AM EST.
* Bright, & early this morning
after I finish Breakfast I will
make a trip I've made countless times during my lifetime North
to Richmond, Virginia; but this time it's to purchase "Machine Cane";
but usually the trip has
been in the other direction South to
Colonial Heights, Virginia from Richmond, Virginia to go
Fishing, or
Relic Hunting with my sidekick from my High School Days!!!
* But when life really throws you a "Curve" which was in my
case was a life alterering,
& changing family tragedy you simply do
what you have to do, & get on with your life which
wasn't easy,
because the fact of the matter was it was extremely difficult for
me to accomplish,
& do!!!
* For me this has meant relocating my "Chair Canng, &
Seat
Weaving" Business, & starting all over again from "Scratch" in a
"NEW" area during an extremely bad economic down turn, and
fortunately for me the good
Lord has "Blessed" me more than I
deserve!!!
*
And in the months to come I will uproot my Family once again,
by choice this time, &
move out in the sticks to a really rural
location, & start all over again!!!
* But one thing that is really "Neat" about "Chair Caning, &
Seat Weaving" is
that so "Few" Craftsman practice these "Lost
Arts" the moves always let you expand
your horizons, & you can
really still continue to get Chair Caning, & Seat Weaving Business
from the area you just moved from no matter where we move to in
our great State
of Virginia!!!
* It's past two (2) in the morning here in the East, &
my warm
bed is calling so I will finish this "Post" after Sunrise, & Breakfast
later this morning!!!
* Usual Breakfast this morning of Oatmeal Fuel, Meds
taken, &
then I was ready to hit the road by around ten (10) AM EST.

to Richmond, Virginia to purchase "Machine Cane"
Supplioes & now it's two (2) 19 PM
EST. & I'm back at my shop
in Colonial Heights, Virginia with "Machine Cane" Chair Supplies
for
my Student on Thursday afternoon!!!

* NO RUSH MATERIAL IN SIGHT!!!
*ON TWO'S DAY MARCH 22, (YES, ANOTHER ONE OF
THOSE
RESTLESS NIGHTS) 2011 @ 12:32 AM EST.
Before the work day ends today at "Country Seat Weavers"
we will have completed all of the Restoration
Woodworking Repairs'
for the Chair Caning, & Seat Weaving Projects currently in our
shop to complete for Clients!!!
* Currently I have a Back Log of sixteen (16) "Rush"
Bottom
Chairs' to do, & will not do the first (1st) "Rush" Bottom Chair
until I resolve
the "Rush" Material Color Issue, & it will be resolved
once, & for all within the next few days!!!
This is a promise that I
have made to myself!!!
* To bed I go because
I'm damn tired from all of the
aggravation surrounding the "Rush" material "Color" issue!!!
* Well, what can I say, it's 10:19, & I'm sitting here at this
computer "Posting" after finishing my usual Breakfast of Oatmeal
Fuel, Meds taken, & then, which
is unusual, checking the weather
report (for rain) to determine whether I drive north to Richmond,
Virginia today, or tomorrow to pick up a little "Machine Cane", &
"Spline"
to do a Single "Machine Cane" Chair Bottom on Thursday
showing my Student "How
to" "CORRECTLY" do a "Machine Cane"
Chair Bottom using "Machine Cane
Jigs'"!!!
* We use "Witness Marks" for "Laying Out"
a "Machine Cane"
Chair Bottom before we install the "Machine Cane Material" so
it is
dead on the money "Square"!!!
* No need today to continue doing "Rush" Chair Bottoms' Tear
Downs because there isn't an
inch of "Rush" Material in sight due to
the Color Issue of the "Rush" Material!!! "Clients"
which have in-
cluded "Antique Shops'", & "Museums are really particuliar about the
"Color" Finish on "Rush" Bottom Chairs', & SO AM I because that
is what
I built my reputation on not only as the "Owner" of "Country
Seat Weavers" but also as
the World Class Craftsman whom did, &
(seldom now) does all of the Chair Caning, & Seat
Weaving Re-
storation work unless it is a "Personal" project!!!
* So the "NEW" Craftsman whom runs the show now needs to
continue where I left off so I have Advised them
not to do any
"Rush" Chair Bottoms' until the "Rush" Material Color "Issue" is
resolved once, & for all!!!

Done the Oatmeal Fuel Breakfast,
done the Meds, & done dessing for the day!!!
* Now to the exremely important business of the day of fixing
this "Rush" material mess created
by ???
by sending the wrong color "Rush" material we "NEVER" ordered, &
like I stated before it's the (second time), & will not ever happen
again if I can help
it because it is unnecessary aggravation, lost time
which is money, etc.!!!
Hopefully the fix today will still allow me to meet my "Rush"
Chair Bottom delivery this coming
"Sunday" which will mean I will have
to do six (6) "Rush" Bottom Chairs' in a matter
of days' after the
"Rush" material arrives from a "NEW" Vendor to meet the "Sunday"
delivery date which will be no small feat!!!
* I really need this "Rush"
material situation like another hole in
the head!!!
* But
on to more pleasant things for this terrific Mun day, &
for a change there will be no "Chair Caning":
but there will be "Rush"
Chairs to repair, & take apart very, very carefully!!!
* Finished another gift from one of my "NEW' Clients today
which only required a half (1/2) inch
dowel to partially finish the
restoration on an old tool box!!! Now all it needs is a little
stain!!!

* TOP OF THE WEEK PREP WORK!!!
ON SON DAY MARCH 20, (SON SHINE ON MY SHOULDER
TODAY) 2011 @ 10:35 AM EST.
* It's all of 10: 38 AM EST., & I'm
dressed for the day, had
my Oatmeal Fuel Breakfast, & taken the dreaded Meds, & now I
going to do my daily check of Fluids in the '42 Chevy so I can hit
the road for a few hours today!!!
* Just stuck my old head out the door, & it's a little chilly
outside today so I'm going to dress accordingly,
& enjoy being out
side for a few hours' today which will include a short visit to my local
bone (junk) yard to see what's new!!! And I will do a little shopping
to replace some worn out dress pants,
& purchase a pair of jeans
to wear which I have literally not done, or worn in years; but
that's all going to change for the future!!!
* When we finish "Binding"
off "Hand Cane" Chairs' we always
plug the holes where the "Binder Cane" begins, & ends
so they always
look "Museum Quality"!!! And that's what we're doing this morning to
finish our "Hand Cane" Chairs' off!!! And then it will be a little
"Rush" Chair
Weaving time to finish up a "Rush" Bottom Chair!!!
* Then I will
tackle the mess "Frank's Cane, & Rush Supply" has
created as a result of shipping material
we "NEVER" ordered (second
time)!!! It will not happen again, & that I can guarantee
"Frank's
Cane, & Rush Supply" because He has lost a loyal customer of
almost thirty seven (37) years!!! Yep, we can spend our money else
where (and will) if he
doesn't give a damn about customer service!!!
